Arsenal are considering an offer for Marcos Leonardo in the January transfer window, according to a report.
Goal Brasil report that Santos are preparing to sell Marcos Leonardo in the January transfer window, and Arsenal have already made enquiries over the striker.
Goal deny recent reports that the Gunners have submitted a bid, but they claim it’s possible Arsenal will formalise their interest in January.
Though the exact fee hasn’t been discussed, Arsenal are aware that Santos have promised to negotiate Leonardo’s exit in the winter window.
Santos have been relegated from the Brazilian top division, so Leonardo could be on the market for even less than the €12m plus €6m (£10.3m plus £5.2m) AS Roma offered in the summer.
At the time, Santos turned down the bid, but their current predicament makes them more open to an offer in that region now.
Newcastle United and Real Madrid have also made contact to enquire about Leonardo’s situation, according to the same report.
Arsenal were also linked with the same player over the summer, as the striker starred at the u20 World Cup playing alongside Marquinhos.
Leonardo scored five goals in five games at the tournament, and the 20-year-old has 21 goals in 49 games for Santos this year.
