Mika Biereth scored a well-taken half-volley to keep his strong form going since recovering from injury, though Motherwell slipped to a 4-2 defeat.

Arsenal loanee Mika Biereth made his return from injury at the weekend, and though he’s still yet to start for Motherwell, he scored the third goal of his loan spell on Wednesday night.

With Motherwell 2-0 down to Aberdeen at half time, they opted to bring Biereth into the fray, but things didn’t get much better after the break.

Aberdeen added a third and a fourth before Motherwell finally responded with a deflected effort from Thelonius Bair for 4-1.

The game was all but over, but there was still time for Biereth to add another consolation and keep his form going. The loanee stole in behind the Aberdeen defence to fire a shot home on the half-volley in the 93rd minute for 4-2.

You can watch Biereth’s goal here or below from the timestamp 3:47.

Biereth had scored one and assisted one against Ross County at the weekend, winning and converting a penalty before setting up Conor Wilkinson’s goal 10 minutes later.

The highlights from that game are also now available here and below, with Biereth’s goal at the timestamp 2:25, and his assist at 3:40.

After those two appearances, Biereth had now spent 117 minutes on the pitch this season, scoring three goals and assisting a further two.

If not for the 20-year-old’s knee injury in August, you’d imagine the striker could be among the top scorers in the Scottish Premiership this season. Even after missing seven league games he remains in the top 10.

The task now is to keep that going when he eventually gets chances in the starting lineup, and Motherwell travel away to Kilmarnock next on Saturday, November 4th at 15:00 GMT.
