Arsenal loanee Mika Biereth made an early return from injury on Saturday, picking up where he left off with a goal and assist in just 15 minutes on the pitch.

Mika Biereth made a fantastic start to his loan spell at Motherwell, scoring one and assisting one in a substitute appearance against Hibernian FC back in August.

But the good feeling didn’t last long, as Biereth was ruled out of action for three months with a knee injury from a tackle described as “absolutely horrendous” by Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell.

Thankfully, the reports of a three-month absence turned out not to be correct, as Biereth was back in action ahead of schedule against Ross County this week – a little over two months since his last appearance.

The 20-year-old didn’t start the game, as presumably Motherwell are looking to ease him back in.

But with Ross County 2-0 up and just 15 minutes to go, the hosts decided to throw Biereth in to try and turn things around.

Within minutes, the decision had paid dividends. Biereth raced into the box and was brought down for a clear penalty, which he himself converted for 2-1.

Ross County appeared to kill the game with a third goal four minutes later, but Biereth played in Conor Wilkinson for Motherwell’s second goal of the game for 3-2.

Well into injury time, Motherwell added a third, earning an unlikely point.

After two months away, Biereth returned as he started, with a goal and an assist. With just 73 minutes on the pitch, the Arsenal youngster is already at four goal contributions in Scotland.

Perhaps soon he’ll get his first start!
