With Arsenal sitting at the summit of the group and Sevilla chasing redemption after a narrow defeat, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The stage is set for an enthralling encounter that will test the mettle and strategy of both European heavyweights.

Sevilla boss Diego Alonso has expressed his determination to overturn what he deems an ‘unfair’ result in their previous Champions League encounter with Arsenal.

Arsenal, who currently lead the group, edged past Sevilla with a 2-1 victory a fortnight ago, leaving Alonso’s squad trailing by four points in third place, with only three games remaining.

The Sevilla manager has conveyed his belief that his team merited more from the game and is eager for his players to demonstrate their true capabilities in the forthcoming fixture in London.

Alonso articulated his sentiments in a press briefing, stating, “We competed well, with an unfair result for me because we did more for the game.”

The Gunners have encountered setbacks in their domestic campaign since their triumph over Sevilla, suffering two losses in three matches. The most recent defeat, a 1-0 loss at Newcastle, has been a source of contention due to the disputed nature of the winning goal.

Despite the need to motivate his team, Alonso maintained a respectful stance towards Arsenal, acknowledging their status as one of the top teams in European football.

He elaborated on the challenges posed by the North London club, “The game at a strategic and football level is complex,” and added, “We are facing the fourth or fifth best team in Europe, they showed it last season, same in this one.”

Alonso’s strategy includes preparing for the contest without key player Sergio Ramos, the former Real Madrid defender, who is currently sidelined due to a calf injury.
