Ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match, Arsenal are dealing with injuries to key players including Eddie Nketiah, Martin Odegaard, and Takehiro Tomiyasu, while Bukayo Saka is a doubt.

In addition, Gabriel Jesus, Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey, and Emile Smith Rowe are definitely out due to their respective injuries.

Ahead of the game, Mikel Arteta met with the press.

Regarding Saka, who has been called up to the England squad, Arteta said, “We want our players to play for the club and play for the national teams and B[ukayo Saka] had to leave the pitch because he was in quite a lot of pain.

“He didn’t train yesterday and let’s see if he can make it tomorrow.”

About Thomas Partey, who is now in a leg brace after a minor procedure, Arteta commented, “He’s progressing really well but it was a significant injury… He’s working towards that and he needs support and hopefully the injury will heal in the right way and we’ll have him back because he’s a big player for us.”

Partey is expected to be out until the new year at least.

For Burnley, top scorer Lyle Foster is unavailable due to a mental health issue, but Josh Cullen is back from suspension, and Hjalmar Ekdal might return.

Historically, Arsenal have struggled against Burnley under Mikel Arteta, losing four out of five matches, but they have a strong home record against newly promoted teams.

Arsenal’s Kai Havertz has scored three times against Burnley, but Eddie Nketiah is the more consistent scorer in London.

Burnley, facing a challenging season, have lost nine out of 11 matches and risk a fifth consecutive top-flight loss, a situation not seen in Burnely since 1976.
