Arsenal 18-year-old Alexei Rojas Fedorushchenko has had to compete with fellow academy goalkeeper Noah Cooper for minutes so far this season, but he’s had his fair share of time on the pitch.

Rojas has made a couple of u18 league starts against Reading and Chelsea, and he’s also played both matches in the UEFA Youth League against PSV Eindhoven and RC Lens.

The goalkeeper even received a call-up to the bench for Arsenal’s u21 Premier League 2 opener against West Ham United in August.

As for his international situation, Rojas is eligible for England as his country of birth, Russia through his mother, and Colombia through his father.

The goalkeeper has been called up by the England u15s and the Russia u17s in the past, but he’s played most of his recent international football with the Colombia u20s.

Discussing his plans with both club and country this week, Rojas was clear on what he wants.

“My goals have been clear since July, when we started pre-season,” Rojas said (via Sport Witness). “I won the u18 starting place, I have to maintain that.

“I want to have the opportunity to play with the u21s in the second half (of the season), after goalkeepers go out on loan.

“I already played in the Youth Champions League against PSV and I was also in the game against Lens. I have to keep this up and I hope to sign my contract as a professional with Arsenal, and continue with the Colombian national team.”

Rojas won a bronze medal at the u20 South American Championship earlier this year, before playing in the u20 World Cup over the summer.

Colombia reached the quarter-finals of the competition, where they were defeated by Italy.
