Juventus are considering the possibility of signing Arsenal’s Jorginho in the January transfer window, according to a report by Calciomercato, but only if they can get him for as little as possible..

Jorginho, the Brazil-born Italy international, joined the north London club earlier this year, penning a contract that will run until 2024, with an option for a further season.

Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus’ sporting director, is said to have an existing professional relationship with Jorginho from their time together at Napoli.

While Juventus have generally steered clear of signing players in their 30s, it appears they might make an exception for the midfielder.

The report claims that Jorginho has “always been in Juventus’ sights.”

The report also highlighted the conditions under which a potential deal might occur.

Specifically, it stated that the transfer will depend on whether Mikel Arteta’s side is willing to release him, or if the deal could be “almost free of charge.”

This “almost free of charge” notion is thought to possibly pertain to a free loan deal. The report posits that should Arsenal agree to such terms, it would be “an opportunity worth trying to seize” for the Serie A club who never want to pay actually money for players from Arsenal.

In terms of Jorginho’s current season with Arsenal, he has made eight appearances thus far. Notably, only one of these was a league start, which occurred during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

Finding it difficult to secure a prominent role under Mikel Arteta. Calciomercato stated that given his limited playtime, “he can leave,” suggesting that a January transfer is likely due to his position at the “bottom of Mikel Arteta’s hierarchy”.

Jorginho, however, recently spoke about how happy he is at Arsenal.

No mention is made of Arsenal’s stance on the possibility of Jorginho leaving before the end of this current season. However, the report implies that any move would largely hinge on Arsenal’s willingness to either release him or allow for a very low-cost transfer.

Jorginho’s contract, which extends until 2024 with an option for an additional year, could potentially make him more attractive to prospective buyers, especially if he is released on favourable terms.
