Arsenal youth striker Tyreece John-Jules went out on loan to Derby County in August, but he’s yet to feature significantly for the League One side.

John-Jules made cameo substitute appearances for Derby against Peterborough and Bolton Wanderers in his first two games after joining, but he was then ruled out of action with a thigh problem.

Having missed the last seven matches for Derby in all competitions, John-Jules is finally set to return to action after the international break.

Derby boss Paul Warne says John-Jules “will have joined in” with the squad’s training sessions before their next game against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, October 21st at 15:00 BST.

The news will be a boost to Derby, who had to deal with a couple of injuries to their centre-forward options in their last game against Notts County on Tuesday night.

But from an Arsenal point of view, it’s important John-Jules gets back to full fitness and playing again, after so many injury issues in recent seasons.

John-Jules’ injury struggles are likely part of the reason he only completed a short-term loan to Derby, with the club committing to taking him on until January 2024.

If he hopes to stay beyond that date, the striker will need to have a solid few months of football now.
