Arsenal are yet to make a decision on signing a new midfielder in January, but links to Real Madrid’s Aurelian Tchouameni have been played down.
In the wake of another injury to Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, Fabrizio Romano writes that it’s unsurprising we’re seeing links between the Gunners and midfielders who could potentially replace the Ghana international.
Yet Romano claims there’s nothing to the links with Real Madrid midfielder Aurelian Tchouameni.
Arsenal aren’t in talks with the player, they haven’t made any proposals, and Tchouameni loves playing for his current club.
As it stands, there’s nothing in the rumour at all, and it’s simply inevitable that a top player like him will be linked with the best Premier League clubs from time to time.
This is certainly not a time you’d expect to see Tchouameni pushing for a move.
The France international has started 10 of Real Madrid’s 11 La Liga fixtures this season, only dropping to the bench for the one game they lost – against Atletico Madrid.
After his most recent appearance in the win over Barcelona, Tchouameni has helped his side to the top of La Liga. His focus will be on the title race, not a potential transfer.
Arsenal were linked with Tchouameni before he even joined Real Madrid, during his time with AS Monaco, and it’s not impossible they’ll make a move at some point in the future.
Reports last summer suggested Tchouameni would be interested in playing in the Premier League in the future.
But it doesn’t seem at all likely that Real Madrid would let go of the midfielder right now.
