Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard are expected to miss Arsenal’s game against Brentford on Wednesday, as assessments continue on their injuries.
Arsenal are currently assessing Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard’s injury concerns, but it seems the decision has already been made not to include them in Wednesday’s League Cup game against Brentford.
The Evening Standard report that even if they recover in time, neither Rice nor Trossard are expected to be risked for the midweek away day.
Rice and Trossard will join Gabriel Martinelli, Jurrien Timber, and Thomas Partey in missing the fixture through injury.
The Daily Mail report that Trossard limped out of training earlier in the week, complaining of tightness towards the bottom of his hamstring or the back of his knee.
The player has already had a scan, but the severity was still unclear on Sunday afternoon.
We saw last season that Trossard can play the centre-forward role if Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are both out, but he’s also capable of playing on the left wing, or as an advanced left-sided central midfielder.
As for Rice, Mikel Arteta confirmed that his summer signing has a back issue.
“Declan is not feeling good, he felt something in his back and could not carry on,” Arteta said.
“He had some discomfort in his back, and he was telling us during the first half that he wasn’t comfortable. When we assessed him at half-time, he couldn’t continue, so we had to change him.
“We have to assess him…hopefully [he won’t face a lengthy spell out], but we’ll see.”
