Arsenal Sporting Director Edu spoke of his enthusiasm for the club’s participation in this year’s UEFA Champions League following Thursday’s draw.

The club is set to clash with Sevilla, PSV Eindhoven and Lens in the group stages, marking its return to Europe’s elite competition for the first time since the 2016/17 season.

The group stage draw of the Champions League has pitted Arsenal against Sevilla, PSV Eindhoven and Lens, leading Edu to reflect on the upcoming challenges.

“They are very traditional, strong teams,” he said. “All of them are hard to play against, so we’re here, happy to be in the competition again.”

Edu emphasised the importance of giving one’s all in every competition. “When we’re talking about Arsenal Football Club, we cannot prioritise anything.

“We have to do our best and perform in the best way possible and finish in the best position,” he stated. Edu clearly expressed that the excitement is shared across the club, from the players to the staff.

Not since the 2016/17 season has Emirates Stadium hosted Champions League matches. Edu underscored the sense of anticipation pervading the club, asserting that “It’s a big bonus from the last season.

“The way we behave as a club, the way the players, the staff, everyone works to be back in the Champions League, it’s a big bonus now. I’m pretty sure the fans will enjoy the competition. Everyone deserves it and let’s enjoy it again.”
