Beth Mead is back in action and ready to make her mark on the pitch for Arsenal.

Following a 10-month layoff due to a career-threatening injury, Mead is determined to spearhead Arsenal’s quest for the Women’s Super League (WSL) title.

Beth Mead, the talented Arsenal forward, is gearing up for her return to action after a challenging 10 months on the sidelines due to injury.

Mead, who missed nearly a year of action due to an ACL injury, is determined to help her team clinch the Women’s Super League (WSL) title this season, despite Arsenal’s unexpected exit from the Champions League group stages in a dramatic showdown with Paris FC.

Arsenal’s European aspirations took a hit as they were eliminated from the Champions League on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw with Paris FC.

It was a bitter disappointment for the Gunners, who had previously reached the semi-finals of the competition before narrowly falling to Wolfsburg.

This time around, they won’t even progress to the group stage.

However, Mead, who is working tirelessly towards her on-pitch comeback, is confident that Arsenal can use this setback as motivation to have a successful domestic season.

Speaking to Mirror Football, she expressed her determination, saying, “No-one else in this world feels as devastated and as gutted as we do as players about the result.

“Ultimately we fell short, we lost on penalties which is such a cruel way to go out of such an amazing competition.

“But we just have to dust ourselves off. I know we can respond.”

Mead believes that the team has already reacted positively to the disappointment. They immediately embarked on an intense training camp, preparing for the upcoming WSL season, which kicks off against Liverpool on October 1st.

“We went straight into a training camp, we got our heads down and it’s the most competitive training has been in a long, long time,” Mead said.

“We’re putting ourselves in such a good position to prepare before the start of the season. Of course, as an Arsenal team with such a high amount of quality, we want to do well this year. Fingers crossed we can do that.”

Her return to the pitch will be a significant boost for Arsenal as they aim to regain their momentum in the WSL.

Mead, who was named the 2022 Euros Player of the Tournament, is eager to make her comeback. She stated, “I’m chomping at the bit to get back.

“I’m hungry for football more than ever at the moment because I’ve had it taken away from me for quite a while.

“It’s been really nice to have actual teammates rather than mannequins to run about with! It’s a big improvement. It’s been so refreshing for me. To be back on the pitch with my teammates, I’ve been like a kid at Christmas.”

However, Mead’s journey back to the pitch has been far from easy. She has faced not only a career-threatening injury but also personal setbacks, including the loss of her mother, June, to cancer.

These challenges have tested her mental strength and resilience, but she has drawn strength from the support network around her.

“In my case, I’ve gone from the highest high of my career,” Mead reflected.

“From winning a Euros, playing the best football I was ever playing, to then having a such a major injury that kept me out of the game for nine months.

“And on a personal level I lost my Mum in that time as well, obviously that was incredibly difficult and you never want to go through that. But during that time, the process of dealing with it has helped me build as a person.

“I’ve had good days and bad days, but that’s ok. I’ve used the support platform I had around me to get through those moments. Not everyone has that unfortunately, but I think it’s very important to have real support around you.

Despite these hardships, Mead remains unwavering in her determination to make a successful comeback and help Arsenal achieve their goals in the upcoming WSL season.

A return to form for Beth Mead and a renewed spirit within the Arsenal camp could make them strong contenders for the WSL title this season.

As Mead prepares to step back onto the pitch, she carries with her the lessons learned from setbacks and a burning desire for success.

The Arsenal faithful eagerly anticipate her return, hoping it will mark the beginning of a triumphant season for the Gunners in the Women’s Super League.
