Arsenal made another enquiry about Wolves winger Pedro Neto over the summer, according to a report.
John Percy writes for The Telegraph that Arsenal made an enquiry with Wolves over Pedro Neto, described as a “long-term target” for the Gunners.
Whatever Wolves’ response, Arsenal evidently decided not to pursue the transfer, with significant funds invested elsewhere in the squad. But it’s interesting to see that their interest in Neto is still alive.
Neto was linked with Arsenal throughout the summer of 2022, but the Gunners were ultimately priced out of a move.
The 23-year-old was tempted by the transfer, as a self-proclaimed boyhood fan of the club, but it never came to be.
There were then suggestions the club could go back in during the January transfer window, but they turned to Mykhaylo Mudryk and then Leandro Trossard instead.
Neto has made a strong start to the season, providing three assists in his opening four games, despite Wolves losing three of those matches.
Given his recent injury struggles, Neto will also be glad simply to have played 90 minutes in four consecutive fixtures.
Last season, Neto only completed 90 minutes in two Wolves games, and he only managed one assist all year.
Now that his injury problems appear to be behind him, it’s a different story.
