Charles de Ketelaere‘s recent performances at Atalanta have caught the attention of both Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Reports from Calciomercato indicate that the two Premier League clubs are monitoring the striker closely with an eye towards a potential future signing.
De Ketelaere’s resurgence
Charles de Ketelaere has turned his fortunes around since joining Atalanta on loan from AC Milan, having joined the latter from Club Brugge for €36.5m in 2022.
The 22-year-old Belgian has put his disappointing stint at AC Milan behind him, according to the report and is blossoming at Atalanta.
As a result, his performance is once again attracting interest from prominent clubs, such as Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Potential for future moves
Both Arsenal under Mikel Arteta and Newcastle United have shown prior interest in De Ketelaere and are believed to be “still following the player.”
A move away from Serie A may well be on the cards in the next summer transfer window, suggests Calciomercato.
Buyout clause and possible bids
Atalanta has a €30m option to make the loan deal permanent. It appears likely they will activate this clause, but a higher offer from Arsenal or Newcastle could change the scenario.
Clubs’ strategy
Despite only being 22, De Ketelaere has been on the radar of top-flight clubs for years.
If he continues to perform well, Calciomercato anticipates that Arsenal and Newcastle will “come calling sooner rather than later.”
While Atalanta seems poised to make the striker’s move permanent, Arsenal and Newcastle are not ruling out a future bid.
De Ketelaere’s continued development could make him a valuable acquisition for either Premier League side.
This season, De Ketelaere has scored two and assisted one in five appearances.
