Albert Sambi Lokonga’s potential move to Burnley looks to be getting more complicated, with AS Monaco also showing an interest.
Sacha Tavolieri reports that Albert Sambi Lokonga’s talks with Burnley on personal terms didn’t go well, failing to meet the player’s expectations.
For Arsenal, it seems discussions on a loan deal with an obligation to buy were going smoothly, but the issue with personal terms is now holding things up.
AS Monaco were reportedly interested in Lokonga even before he joined the Gunners, and they retain an interest in the midfielder this window.
According to Tavolieri, Monaco recently made an enquiry about the potential signing, but they haven’t made any concrete moves yet.
Sky Sports claimed this week that Burnley were still pushing to sign Lokonga before the end of the summer transfer window, despite having already signed Sander Berge to fill one of their midfield vacancies.
Lokonga has reportedly already spoken to Burnley boss Vincent Kompany about the move, and he was expected to play a key role for the side.
But The Athletic reported earlier last week that a move was on hold as the newly-promoted club looked to finalise other deals ahead of bringing in the Arsenal man.
It appears this saga could drag on until the end of the window, with Lokonga fit again after injury but not involved in Arsenal’s matchday squads.
Lokonga returned to training with Arsenal last week after an absence during the early stages of pre-season.
