Hubert Graczyk has made an early return to Arsenal after Slough Town opted to sign a new goalkeeper on loan for the season.

Hubert Graczyk joined non-league side Slough Town on a “season-long” loan in July, but the Arsenal goalkeeper is already returning to north London after just four games.

Arsenal Youth report that Graczyk is back at Arsenal after ending his loan early, with Slough Town opting to bring in Rohan Luthra from Cardiff City instead.

Slough announced the signing of Luthra on Thursday, with first-team boss Scott Davies admitting that they had tried to sign the goalkeeper much earlier in the window.

“Rohan was put on my radar in the summer by a friend of mine, Darren Purse, who is manager at Cardiff City U23s,” Davies said. “We did look at the possibility of bringing him in back in July but never managed to get a deal across the line at the time.

“As soon as I was informed a couple of days ago that the deal was good to go, I’ve gone with my gut and decided to bring Rohan into the group.

“He’s just under 6’5, a real presence and someone who is held in high regard by a number of people I’ve spoken with in the game.”

Reading between the lines, it looks as though Luthra was always Slough Town’s first-choice option, and the fact that a deal has now been done cast serious doubt over the potential for Graczyk to play consistently.

Rather than letting the goalkeeper sit on the bench until January, Arsenal have seemingly looked to be proactive and bring Graczyk back.

It will be interesting to see if he now goes out on another loan before the end of the month, or if he returns to the Arsenal u21s for the time being.

Graczyk made four appearances for Slough Town, and he kept the first clean sheet of his senior career in his final game against Weston-super-Mare last Saturday.
