Arsenal youth goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk has joined Slough Town FC on loan for the season, the clubs have confirmed.

Slough Town FC write that Arsenal goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk is joining them on a season-long loan.

“I’m extremely pleased to get Hubert across the line for a season-long loan from Arsenal,” Slough boss Scott Davies said.

“We’ve taken our time in picking what we believe is the right keeper to fit into our plans as we feel it’s an important position that we have to get right.

“He comes with bags of experience from a training perspective, playing with world-class players day in, day out and we hope that he can transfer that to matches whilst playing for Slough Town.

“We managed to speak with players and staff at Arsenal that we knew and everyone spoke very highly of his ability, work ethic but also about him as a person.”

Slough Town play in the National League South, and Graczyk will take heart from some of Arsenal’s other academy goalkeepers and their moves to the lower leagues last season.

Ovie Ejeheri also started out in the English sixth tier last campaign, but he ended up playing in the Finnish first division for the second half of the season, after impressing with Chelmsford City.

Arthur Okonkwo began the 2022/23 season playing for League Two side Crewe Alexandra, then stepped up into the Austrian Bundesliga with Sturm Graz, won a trophy, and is now seemingly set for a permanent transfer.

Arsenal are clearly willing to be proactive and take advantage if a player proves themselves in the lower leagues and there’s interest in them in January.

But for the time being, Graczyk will be fully focused on Slough Town, and his first opportunity to impress in senior football.

Graczyk joins Catalin Cirjan (FC Rapid), Mauro Bandeira (Colchester United), and Billy Vigar (Eastbourne Borough) in completing a loan move away from Arsenal this summer.
