Turkish journalist Burhan Can Terzi reports (via Galatasaray Haber) that Galatasaray have made an attempt to sign Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

The same source adds that there will be a meeting on Thursday to discuss the potential move further.

Galatasaray are one of the clubs joining Arsenal in the Champions League group stage draw later on Thursday, so they’d be able to offer Lokonga some top-level experience.

Lokonga is obviously cutting it fine to secure a transfer away from Arsenal before the end of the window, with just over a day left until the deadline.

But with no movement from other previously-linked clubs like AS Monaco and Burnley, it may well take a bid from a new suitor like Galatasaray to get things over the line.

The move to Burnley seemed to fall apart over personal terms, whilst Monaco made enquiries but never an official bid.

Sky Sports claimed this month that Burnley were still pushing to sign Lokonga before the end of the summer transfer window, despite having already signed Sander Berge to fill one of their midfield vacancies.

Lokonga has reportedly already spoken to Burnley boss Vincent Kompany about the move, and he was expected to play a key role for the side.

But The Athletic then reported that a move was on hold as the newly-promoted club looked to finalise other deals.

Lokonga returned to training with Arsenal in early August after an absence during the early stages of pre-season, but he’s often been training away from the main group as he continues to pursue a transfer.
