Jesper Lindstrom, the Danish midfield maestro currently with Eintracht Frankfurt, has been on Arsenal’s radar for a number of months, so are they finally making moves to sign him?

  • Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over the potential signing of Jesper Lindstrom.
  • Despite signing Kai Havertz and Declan Rice this summer, Arsenal are still keen on bolstering their midfield
  • Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly open to selling Lindstrom, with a price tag in the region of €35-40 million, which could rise further due to competition.

Arsenal’s quest to solidify their midfield continues, with the latest focus turning to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jesper Lindstrom.

The Danish international has been linked with the North London side for several months now, and a serious move seems to be brewing behind the scenes.

Ekstra Bladet, a Danish publication, suggests that Arsenal and Liverpool are already in touch with Frankfurt over Lindstrom’s availability.

This comes despite the Gunners having already fortified their midfield with the high-profile signings of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.

Other clubs reportedly showing interest in Lindstrom include Tottenham, Newcastle, RB Leipzig, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli.

With Martin Odegaard occupying the number 10 role, and impressing last season with 15 goals and eight assists, the case for Lindstrom becomes a bit complex.

Additional depth, provided by Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe, raises questions over whether Arsenal will splurge on another attacking midfielder.

Vieira has so far failed to make his mark on the Premier League following his €35m move from Porto last summer. He scored just two, with three assists, in 33 appearances (1,413 minutes).

Smith Rowe, meanwhile, logged only 241 minutes in all competitions due to recovery from groin surgery.

Both these players will be eager to impress this season, making Lindstrom’s inclusion potentially redundant.

Frankfurt are open to parting ways with Lindstrom. The Bundesliga outfit reportedly seeks between €35-40 million, a fee that could escalate to €50-55 million amid intense competition.

Since his €7 million transfer from Brondby two years ago, Lindstrom has enjoyed an impressive stint with Frankfurt. He’s chalked up 14 goals and 13 assists across 77 games, playing an instrumental role in their Europa League run last season.

Furthermore, the club seems to be preparing for Lindstrom’s departure, as they’ve already signed Omar Marmoush of VfL Wolfsburg on a free transfer.

The 24yo Mamoush, valued at around €6m, scored six and assisted one in 48 Wolfsburg games before his move.

As Premier League frontrunners, Arsenal’s interest in Lindstrom certainly carries weight.

The mooted €30 million valuation is viewed as manageable by the North London side.

Interestingly, Brentford FC, boasting five Danish players already, have also been scouting for a player of Lindstrom’s profile as well as the aforementioned Liverpool.

With the summer transfer window drawing to a close, the next few weeks could shape Arsenal’s midfield for the upcoming season.

Whether or not Lindstrom will don the red and white remains to be seen.
