Ipswich Town are among a number of clubs interested in Auston Trusty this summer, with Arsenal open to offers but not pushing a sale.
Nick Ames of The Guardian reports that Arsenal are open to permanent offers for centre-back Auston Trusty this summer, but the Gunners are in no hurry to jump into a deal.
For the time being, Trusty remains in Arsenal’s pre-season plans. Though the club do need and expect to raise money with sales this summer, they’re clearly staying calm and waiting for offers at this stage.
Ames adds that Ipswich Town are one of a sizeable number of clubs keen on a move for Trusty, after his loan spell in the Championship with Birmingham City last season.
Football.London also reported earlier in the summer that Trusty is set to leave Arsenal on a permanent deal.
Trusty only joined Arsenal in 2022, for a fee of around £1.8m. But his stock is high at the moment, following a positive year on loan and his debut for the United States Men’s National Team.
The defender spent the season with Birmingham City, where he won the Supporters’ Player of the Season award. He was only a couple of appearances off hitting 50 games for the side.
Trusty has proven he can compete in English football, and Arsenal are awaiting offers for his services.
One report from the Daily Mail had suggested that Rangers held an interest in Trusty, and he was emerging as their main target.
But though Rangers were reportedly keen to get a deal done with Arsenal, the Mail claimed they were hoping to pay just £2m for the transfer.
Unsurprisingly, Football Scotland then reported that Arsenal’s fee and Trusty’s potential wage demands were likely to be too great for Rangers, and the move is unlikely to happen.
Rangers had monitored his progress for a potential summer deal, but the finances are simply too far apart at this stage.
With all the money in English football, a transfer to a club like Ipswich Town is perhaps more realistic. Ipswich will be looking to strengthen for a season in the Championship after their promotion from League One last season.
