Chris Wheatley reports for NationalWorld TV that Charlie Patino is very close to leaving Arsenal.

Teams in Spain and Germany have expressed an interest in him, and he could be on his way out very soon, but it’s not yet clear which club he might end up at.

There were reportedly talks that Patino could leave on loan, but Arsenal are prepared to sell the midfielder permanently with a buy-back clause and potentially a sell-on clause as well.

But Fabrizio Romano makes a slightly different claim, suggesting things have gone a bit quiet with Patino at the moment.

Romano understands that Arsenal have received loan bids for Patino, but the player would prefer a permanent move, complicating matters.

In May, The Athletic’s David Ornstein broke the news that Patino is set to leave Arsenal permanently this summer.

The midfielder is reportedly keen to play regular first-team football, and the Gunners are unlikely to be able to offer that, particularly given the significant summer signings in the middle.

Sam Dean of The Telegraph was then the first to report that there’s an expectation Arsenal could try to include a buy-back clause as part of any sale this summer, with various other sources subsequently confirming that possibility.

Patino spent the season on loan with Blackpool, making 37 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing four assists.

His loan spell has mostly been spoken about positively despite the disappointment around the team’s relegation.

Before that, the youngster had made his breakthrough into the Arsenal first team last season, with debut appearances in the League Cup and FA Cup.
