David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Charlie Patino is expected to leave Arsenal on a permanent basis this summer.

The midfielder is chasing regular senior football, and he’s unlikely to get that at Arsenal, with the Gunners intending to add to their midfield options in the summer market.

Patino is unwilling to make another loan move, so he’s held talks with Arsenal over a permanent exit. The club are willing to help him secure a move, with interest domestically and abroad.

The Arsenal 19-year-old has spent the season on loan with Blackpool, making 36 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing four assists.

That followed Patino’s breakthrough into the Arsenal first team last season, making debut appearances in the League Cup and FA Cup.

But whilst the teenager appeared on the bench in the Premier League six times, he didn’t make it onto the pitch in the competition.

It certainly does seem as if first-team chances at Arsenal are going to be limited in midfield next season.

With potential additions, and a number of experienced midfielders already ahead of Patino, as well as those on loan like Albert Sambi Lokonga, there’s a lot of congestion in that area.

Patino may even be looking over his shoulder at the likes of Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, who are both doing so well at such a young age.

There should be plenty of outside interest in a top young talent in the upcoming window, now it’s just about Arsenal and Patino maximising that interest to find the best move for all involved.
