FC Barcelona would be open to discussing significant offers for Ferran Torres this summer, but links to Arsenal are being played down.

Fabrizio Romano reports that despite rumours linking Arsenal with a move for Ferran Torres, he’s not aware of anything concrete on that front.

Romano claims Barcelona would indeed be open to discussing a transfer for Torres, if they received a significant offer. But that hasn’t happened, and the situation is currently very quiet.

There has been some gossip around Arsenal interest in Torres this summer, but it’s largely been put on the backburner in the wake of the major deals the Gunners have already done.

Signing Kai Havertz from Chelsea and agreeing deals for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber already brings Arsenal to £200m of investment.

Bringing in a winger from Barcelona would appear to be out of the club’s price range, at least for now.

Of course, Arsenal certainly have the potential to raise significant funds this summer.

If Newcastle United follow through on their interest in Kieran Tierney, if Thomas Partey agrees to move to Saudi Arabia, and if Folarin Balogun makes a big-money move to one of the many clubs chasing him, the picture changes.

Until then, it’s hard to see Arsenal making a major bid for Torres, which is perhaps why the situation is so quiet at the moment.

Arsenal were also linked with a move for Torres ahead of the January transfer window, but the deal never materialised.

The Gunners focused on a move for Mykhaylo Mudryk at first, and when that didn’t work out, Edu and the transfer team pivoted to a much cheaper deal for Leandro Trossard, saving money for the summer window.

It doesn’t look like the potential move for Torres is going to resurface just yet, but it might be one to keep an eye on as the window progresses if Arsenal can make some sales.
