Arsenal’s Ovie Ejeheri has concluded his loan spell with SJK Seinajoki, ending on a high with another clean sheet on Saturday.

20-year-old Arsenal goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri played his final match on loan with SJK Seinajoki on Saturday, keeping a clean sheet in a home match against FC Honka.

Ejeheri’s loan went on for a bit longer than most Arsenal loanees, as the Finnish league operates on a calendar-year basis.

The goalkeeper effectively had a mid-season break, with almost a month between his last game for Chelmsford City and his first game for SJK.

Ejeheri had impressed on that initial loan to Chelmsford, keeping 12 clean sheets in 25 appearances. He even earned a reputation as a bit of a penalty-save specialist, after keeping out two spot-kicks in two games.

But the loan to the National League South (the English sixth tier) could only take the goalkeeper so far, and the chance to step up to the Finnish first tier in January was one Arsenal and Ejeheri weren’t keen to turn down.

Things have gone just as well for Ejeheri at SJK, as he’s kept nine clean sheets in 18 competitive appearances for the team.

The Arsenal youngster leaves his second loan club on top of the league with two games in hand over second place.

In all, Ejeheri has made 43 appearances this season, keeping 21 clean sheets, an excellent record. The big question now is over what’s next.

Ejeheri should draw plenty of interest in the summer market, whether that’s for another loan or a permanent transfer.

He’s done all he can in a strong season of football on the pitch, but he’ll want to keep making smart decisions off it in the coming months.
