Posting on the club website on Friday, Arsenal confirmed a new deal for young midfielder Ismail Oulad M’Hand.

The youngster has signed his first professional contract, two and a half years after joining from Feyenoord.

“I’m very happy and excited, just proud to sign my first pro contract,” Ismail said.

“I like our playing style, it’s good and it suits me. Hopefully, I can show more of myself.

“I’m a box-to-box midfielder. I’m good in both boxes – defensively and attacking. I have a good shot!

“[Last season] was actually the first season I started to get in my rhythm because the years before, I was injured so they didn’t go as well. But last year felt really good.”

Chris Wheatley had initially broken the news that Ismail Oulad M’Hand would be signing a new deal earlier in June.

Ismail is the younger brother of Salah-Eddine, and Wheatley added that the older Oulad M’Hand is expected to be part of Mikel Arteta’s pre-season tour this summer, before heading out on loan this season.

As for Ismail, he was recently called up to the Morocco u20 squad, and he’ll be looking to make the step up to the Arsenal u21s in the coming campaign, as well as potentially featuring for the u19s in the UEFA Youth League.
