Alan Nixon reports that Burnley intend to look at Joel Ideho as a potential summer signing, as the young winger has reportedly been released by Arsenal.

Burnley plan to integrate Ideho into their u21 side, and they’re hoping to have him join the club in time for pre-season.

Recently-promoted Burnley got a good look at Ideho last season, with the Arsenal u21s facing the Burnley u21s in the Premier League Cup group stage.

Ideho started the away game, scoring twice for Arsenal on the day, so it’s little wonder he caught the attention of the hosts.

The 19-year-old winger scored six goals for the Arsenal u21s in all competitions in 2022/23, but his season came to an early end after an injury problem.

Ideho sustained an ankle injury in training back in March, before returning to training in April.

The youngster was then invited to a training camp with the Nigeria u20s as they stepped up their preparation for the summer World Cup.

But after joining up with the Nigeria side, he was forced to pull out of the squad in early May with the same ankle problem as before.

That effectively ended Ideho’s season, as Arsenal played their final game of the u21 campaign the following day, and he wasn’t in contention for first-team starts.

Ideho had made himself a starter leading up to his injury, making the u21 lineup in five consecutive fixtures in all competitions – his longest run in the team all season.

But if reports are to be believed, he’s now set to depart the club for a fresh start elsewhere.
