Fabrizio Romano reports that Aaron Ramsdale’s new contract with Arsenal has been verbally agreed and is almost done, but it will still be some days for the final details to be checked over.

The contract isn’t expected to be signed this week, but it seems it’s not too far off now.

Romano adds that the deal will be valid until June 2028, meaning the contract will last a little over five years from the point of signature. His previous deal lasted until 2025 with an option to extend by a year.

The same source had reported in recent days that Ramsdale had accepted Arsenal’s proposal and will earn an improved salary on his current £60,000-a-week wages.

The Times and ESPN also confirmed that Ramsdale is set for a significant wage increase reflecting his status as a top-six goalkeeper.

There’s been talk about a new contract for Ramsdale for quite a while now, with The Athletic reporting all the way back in October that the goalkeeper’s new deal was on the agenda along with the likes of Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and William Saliba.

Ramsdale has made 38 appearances for Arsenal this season, keeping 14 clean sheets. The return of Champions League football is only likely to increase that tally in the following campaign.

A new contract makes sense for all parties, and it seems it won’t be long until it’s officially confirmed.
