Goal report that interest in Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is mounting ahead of the summer window, with several clubs in England and abroad chasing a summer transfer.

There’s reportedly significant interest emerging from Germany, and an Arsenal departure this summer is a “strong possibility”.

Clubs are expected to make contact with Arsenal in the coming weeks looking to strike a deal, after Okonkwo concludes his loan with Sturm Graz.

Still just 21 years old, Okonkwo appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

But he has plenty of competition for places at Arsenal, with Aaron Ramsdale signing a new deal and the addition of Matt Turner to the squad.

In all, Okonkwo has had an impressive season. The goalkeeper started out with League Two side Crewe Alexandra, keeping 10 clean sheets before Arsenal made the decision to recall him and loan him back out to Austria.

The move seemed like a good idea, with Okonkwo jumping from fourth-tier English football to first-tier Austrian football, but it’s probably gone even better than anyone hoped.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of Okonkwo’s Sturm Graz spell was keeping a clean sheet in the final of the OFB Cup as his side lifted the trophy over Rapid Vienna.

Okonkwo had also made a save in the quarter-final penalty shootout win over RB Salzburg, and kept a clean sheet in the semi-final against LASK, so he was a key part of their trophy win.

On top of that, Okonkwo helped Sturm Graz push Salzburg to the end of the Austrian Bundesliga title race.

Though Sturm Graz aren’t going to lift the trophy, sitting six points and 17 goals behind Salzburg with two games left, they were right in the race until last weekend.

Taking a first-half lead in a match against their title rivals, Sturm Graz looked to be going level on points with Salzburg. But a second-half comeback and eventual 2-1 defeat ended their hopes.

Even so, it’s been a great year for Okonkwo, who is now up to 43 appearances and 16 clean sheets between his two loan spells. It’s no surprise various clubs are sniffing around.
