After an impressive finish to his inaugural season at Arsenal, Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus reflects on the journey and his plans for the future.

Following an emphatic 5-0 win against Wolves to mark the end of the Premier League season, Gabriel Jesus expressed satisfaction and optimism about his journey with Arsenal.

Contributing his 11th league goal of the season, despite an injury-hit campaign, Jesus underscored the spirit of resilience permeating through the team. This victory sent the Gooners into the summer break with high spirits, as he acknowledged that Arsenal are on an upward trajectory for the new season.

“It was good. Unfortunately, we didn’t win a trophy which was our target, but I think we had a good season, very good,” Jesus reminisced about his debut season in the iconic red and white. His commitment to the team is palpable, pointing out the solidarity among fans, the internal and external atmosphere fuelling the team’s desire to play good football.

“We are building a good atmosphere from inside and outside, the fans coming with us always supporting, pushing us,” he said. “We want to come here today, enjoy and play good football like we did for 90 per cent of the season, playing good football. We won the game, and then after enjoyed it with our family and friends. Everyone is together, so it was a good day.”

With an opportunity to compete in the Champions League on the horizon, the prospect of those big matches against Europe’s crème de la crème excites Jesus. In addition, he’s eager to strive once more for the Premier League trophy.

However, before plunging into the new season, the striker from Brazil is keen to rejuvenate.

After a whirlwind year that included moving from Manchester City to Arsenal, participating in a World Cup, grappling with a knee injury, and engaging in a title race, Jesus is looking forward to spending some downtime with family and friends in Brazil.

The forward concludes with a blend of excitement and determination for the new season, “I am so excited [for it]. I was a little bit unlucky about my injury, I missed a big part of the season but my mentality has always been my fitness and then to help my team, so next my main target is to be fit all season and help my team.”

With this promise, Jesus sets the bar high for his second season with Arsenal.
