Moises Caicedo’s agent has called Arsenal a great team and confirmed his client dreams of Champions League football, but he’s focusing on Brighton for now.

Arsenal made a £70m move for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo in the winter window, and at the time they were reportedly hoping to sign both Caicedo in January and Declan Rice in the summer.

Though Rice now appears to be the Gunners’ primary target, a return for Caicedo hasn’t been ruled out.

Speaking in an interview with the Arsenal Informer, Caicedo’s agent Manuel Sierra gave an update on his client’s situation and hopes for the future.

“Arsenal is a great team for everyone; let’s see what happens in the summer, there are many clubs keen on Moises,” Sierra told Arsenal Informer.

“Moises has 4 years left on his contract. He’s having an incredible season, so it’s normal that there are many clubs interested in him. Now he’s completely focused on the last part of the season; all evaluations will be postponed until the summer.

“His dream is to play in the Champions League and to reach as far as he can in football.”

As it stands, it looks unlikely Caicedo will be playing Champions League football with Brighton next season. Though Brighton still have a game in hand on the top four, they’re now eight points adrift, with just five games to play.

Not only that, but they also have to play Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Manchester City in their final five games, as well as European hopefuls Aston Villa.

Their home game against Southampton looks like their only safe bet, and even that isn’t a sure thing after Brighton’s recent 5-1 defeat to Everton.

Even so, Brighton seem to be in a good position to challenge for European places in the coming seasons, so Caicedo’s future will depend on how patient he’s willing to be.

David Ornstein recently reported for The Athletic that there’s no agreement in place for Caicedo to leave Brighton this summer. Such a deal could materialise, but any firm decision is unlikely to be made until the campaign ends.

Caicedo has extended his Brighton contract to 2027, so the south coast club are in a strong position with regards to a potential sale.
