Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo attract interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, thanks to a unique contract clause that could facilitate moves.

  • Alexis Mac Allister‘s contract at Brighton contains a unique clause, with Arsenal and Liverpool expressing interest.
  • Moises Caicedo, another Brighton star, was the subject of multiple offers from Arsenal and Chelsea, but remained at Brighton and extended his contract.
  • The Seagulls’ successful season under Roberto De Zerbi has put their players in the spotlight, making them targets for top clubs during the summer transfer window.

Brighton’s Argentinian sensation Alexis Mac Allister, a World Cup winner, has a complex clause in his contract that could facilitate a transfer away from the Amex Stadium this summer.

With the Premier League season reaching its conclusion, Liverpool and Arsenal have shown interest in the player, who has been instrumental in Brighton’s push for a European spot.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Mac Allister’s contract features a unique ‘mechanism’ that, while not a typical release clause, offers encouragement for Arsenal and other potential suitors in their pursuit of the 24-year-old as it can be used to ‘facilitate a move’ despite his contract until 2025.

Moises Caicedo, another standout Brighton player, has also attracted attention from top clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea.

During the January transfer window, the South Coast club rejected multiple offers from Arsenal for Caicedo, causing the Gunners to back off in order not to jeopardise their future dealings with Brighton.

Instead, Arsenal opted to sign Jorginho from Chelsea, while Caicedo extended his contract with Brighton.

As per a FourFourTwo report (see Mail link below), Caicedo may have a similar contract clause as Mac Allister, which could make it easier for interested clubs to secure his signature.

However, Mail Sport disputes this claim and David Ornstein says there is no clause:

Caicedo’s performances this season, which include 38 appearances, one goal, and a key role in Brighton’s FA Cup semi-final run and their Premier League European spot chase, are likely to generate significant interest in the Ecuadorian midfielder.

Under the guidance of Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton have enjoyed a successful season, and their impressive performance has put their players in the spotlight.

With the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool keen on Caicedo and Mac Allister, the Seagulls face a challenging summer as they brace for potential bids on their playing staff.
