Arsenal remain keen on Moises Caicedo despite his new Brighton contract. A potential £70m summer transfer is on the horizon for the Ecuadorian star.

Arsenal’s persistence in pursuing Caicedo

Despite Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo signing a new contract that runs until June 2027, Arsenal remain undeterred in their pursuit of the talented Ecuadorian.

Sources familiar with the 21-year-old’s situation have revealed that the new contract was designed to preserve his transfer value in upcoming windows.

Brighton’s plan to preserve transfer value

Arsenal were keen on acquiring Caicedo in January, but their £70 million bid was rejected by Brighton.

Instead, the Gunners turned their attention to Jorginho, who joined the club on a contract running until June 2024.

However, Arsenal are expected to make another move for Caicedo in the off-season, with Brighton now believed to be more open to a £70 million offer.

It is understood that Brighton had initially rejected Arsenal’s bid because they were unwilling to part with one of their star players mid-season.

Caicedo joined Brighton in 2021 for a reported fee of just £4.5 million after impressing in his native Ecuador with Independiente del Valle.

Premier League rivals show interest

Caicedo has had a strong first full season in the Premier League, scoring one goal and providing one assist in 30 appearances across all competitions.

His performances have also caught the attention of other Premier League clubs, with both Liverpool and Chelsea credited with an interest.
