Arsenal are prioritising two midfielders, a centre-back, and another forward in the summer market, according to a report.

The Evening Standard report that Declan Rice remains Arsenal’s top target for the summer transfer window, but the Gunners have plans to recruit in four positions.

As well as Rice, Arsenal are hoping to sign another midfielder, a centre-back, and possibly another forward as well.

It appears the second midfielder is unlikely to be Mason Mount, with the Standard suggesting Liverpool are currently viewed as the favourites for the Chelsea man.

David Ornstein had previously reported that Arsenal were looking at Mount and Mohammed Kudus for their number eight position, so perhaps Mount’s potential move to Liverpool could swing the pendulum towards the Ajax man.

At centre-back, there have been recent links with Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace. It makes sense that the Gunners would pursue a defender following the recent difficulties without William Saliba.

It’s unclear exactly what kind of forward Arsenal might pursue, and it may well depend on the likes of Folarin Balogun and Reiss Nelson.

If the duo stick around, perhaps that takes the pressure off the forward recruitment. If they leave, that frees up funds and increases the need for additions.

It’s going to be a busy summer for incomings and outgoings overall, that much seems to be clear.
