  • Arsenal have made multiple attempts to prevent Nelson’s departure

Reiss Nelson’s Arsenal career has not gone as planned, with the 23-year-old Londoner struggling for game time and considering a free transfer move this summer.

AC Milan appear to be the frontrunner in the race to sign him, with other clubs such as Aston Villa, West Ham United, and Brighton & Hove Albion also expressing interest in the former Feyenoord loanee.

Nelson’s limited opportunities at Arsenal

Reiss Nelson returned to Arsenal after a successful loan spell at Feyenoord, where he helped the Dutch side reach the Conference League final.

However, since coming back to London, the winger has found first-team opportunities hard to come by.

Nelson has played only 496 minutes in all competitions this season, despite a standout performance against Bournemouth last month, where he contributed a goal and an assist in a last-gasp 3-2 victory for the Gunners.

In total, he has three goals and two assists in just 108 minutes of Premier League action.

AC Milan leading the chase for Nelson

As per English media reports, AC Milan have emerged as the most likely destination for Nelson.

The Italian giants are seeking to revamp their squad next summer after falling short in their pursuit of the Serie A title.

A possible departure for Ante Rebic could open up space on the right flank, where Nelson’s pace could challenge Alexis Saelemaekers for a starting spot.

Arsenal’s efforts to retain Nelson

Arsenal have reportedly made multiple attempts to prevent Nelson’s transfer-free departure, but the player seems determined to explore his options.

With the prospect of more playing time at other clubs, Nelson is reportedly hesitant to commit to a new contract with the Premier League leaders which goes against what the player himself has said.
