Folarin Balogun may be available this summer for less than previously reported, according to new claims from France this week.

L’Equipe (via GFFN) report that Arsenal would be open to selling Folarin Balogun for €30m (£27m) or more this summer, with the player not prepared to sit on the bench for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta reportedly unlikely to give him a starting spot.

This claim is in contrast with previous reports from Germany, with Sky Sport Germany claiming Arsenal would want more than €40m (£36m) for the sale.

Both outlets agree that AC Milan, Inter Milan, Marseille, AS Monaco, and RB Leipzig are among the contenders for Balogun’s signature, but L’Equipe add Napoli and Lille to the mix.

David Ornstein reported for The Athletic earlier this week that Balogun is opposed to a third loan spell next season, and he also doesn’t plan to extend his current Arsenal contract – which expires in 2025.

The striker wants to play as a first-choice striker next season, and he’d happily do so with Arsenal. But with that possibility appearing unlikely, a permanent transfer appeals to him.

Leipzig are one of the clubs already negotiating with Balogun for a potential summer move, according to Philipp Hinze of Sky.

21-year-old Balogun has spent the current campaign on loan in Ligue 1, scoring 19 goals and assisting two in 31 appearances for Stade de Reims.

That puts him close to the top of the Ligue 1 list of top scorers, with only Jonathan David (19) and Kylian Mbappe (19), having scored more than Balogun’s 18 league goals at the time of writing.
