Arsenal are reportedly in ‘pole position’ to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen this summer as they look to boost their squad following what seems to be an inevitable return to the Champions League.

Osimhen is currently the top scorer in Serie A with 19 goals in 21 games, and his performances have caught the attention of big clubs in Europe, with reports suggesting a transfer fee of around €150m would be required.

That being said, Napoli’s owner has repeatedly insisted that Osimhen is not for sale and with his club looking like they will win Serie A, there is no indication at this point that the 24-year-old wants to leave, either.

Osimhen is under contract with Napoli until 2025 and has a current market value of around €70m.

He currently earns around £93,000-per-week.

Does Victor Osimhen dream of playing for Arsenal?

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport almost a year ago, Victor Osimhen dreams of playing for Arsenal or Manchester United.

Reports in March 2022 claimed that Arsenal were interested in signing the Nigerian, who had scored 16 goals in 28 games by that point.

Napoli reportedly wanted £84 million for him then, a price that has naturally rocketed given his form in the 22/23 season.

Victor Osimhen is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a striker. He was born on December 29, 1998, in Lagos, Nigeria. Osimhen began his professional football career in 2017 with Wolfsburg.

In 2019, he signed with the French club Lille OSC, where he had an impressive first season, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists in all competitions. His performances earned him the Marc-Vivien Foé RFI-France 24 trophy for the best African player in Ligue 1 in 2020.

In July 2020, Osimhen signed for the Italian club Napoli for a reported fee of €70 million, making him the most expensive African player in history at the time. However, his first season at Napoli was marred by injury and COVID-19-related issues, limiting his playing time and contribution to the team.

Osimhen has also represented the Nigerian national team since 2017, scoring six goals in his first 10 appearances. He was part of the Nigerian team that won the bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and has now scored 15 goals for his country in just 23 appearances.

Overall, Victor Osimhen is a highly talented striker with exceptional speed, agility, and goal-scoring ability.

He has already made a name for himself in Europe, and many believe that he has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world, something we are seeing clearly this season.
