At the start of the season, Galatasaray secured Lucas Torreira’s transfer from Arsenal for a fee of just €6 million, signing a contract that runs until June 30, 2026.

The 27-year-old Uruguayan star has since become a crucial player for the Turkish team, featuring in 23 official matches and contributing one assist.

Torreira’s market value has now risen to €15 million, making him a sought-after prospect, although still worth much less than the €28.65m Arsenal paid for him in 2018.

Now, it seems like the midfielder will be on the move as he seeks a return to Champions League football with a major European club.

As rumours swirl around his possible exit, the Spor Toto Super League leaders have begun searching for his successor.

Also with aspirations of participating in the Champions League next season, Galatasaray have identified a 20-year-old emerging talent as a potential replacement for Torreira, who has attracted the interest of numerous European clubs.

The club are keeping the name of this 20-year-old secret.

As for Torreira, this all fits with a report just six months into his four-year contract that claimed he wanted to leave.

AC Milan have expressed interest in the Uruguayan, whose agent has already held meetings with Galatasaray.

Torreira’s move to Turkey raised eyebrows at the time, given that top European clubs, particularly in Italy, were vying for his signature.

Now, it seems the 27-year-old might be heading back to Italy soon, probably wishing he’d never left in the first place.
