Bayer Leverkusen’s French winger, Moussa Diaby, looks like he will depart the German club in the summer and, according to BILD, the player has been offered to Arsenal.

The 23-year-old is currently having a standout season with six goals and four assists in the Bundesliga.

However, even with Diaby being offered to Arsenal, it remains uncertain if the club will be able to meet Bayer Leverkusen’s financial demands.

Despite initial talks with Leverkusen, the club was said to be reluctant to sell Diaby in the January transfer window. That will not be the case in the summer as they look to cash in.

The French forward would reportedly cost €75m (£65.7m) plus bonuses, which is the same, if not more, than Arsenal’s deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk which collapsed when Chelsea showed up waving an eight-and-a-half-year deal.

Newcastle United have reportedly also made an enquiry about Diaby, but they were said to  consider Leverkusen’s demands to be ‘excessive’. However, with Arsenal’s interest now in the public domain, Newcastle are said to have made a renewed enquiry.

Diaby is under contract until 2025 and has a total of 43 goals and 42 assists in 150 games for Bayer Leverkusen.

The French international can play on either wing, with 69 of his appearances for the Germans coming on the left and 61 on the right.

Diaby’s transfer fee is likely to be a significant one, but with his current form and his potential to play on either wing, he would be a great asset to any team.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or Newcastle United will be able to pull the trigger on the deal and secure the services of the French international in the summer.
