Arsenal go into their game in hand against Everton this week knowing that a win would not only exact revenge for the recent 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park, but would also move them five points clear of City at the top of the table with just 13 games to play.

Speaking ahead of Everton’s game 2-0 home defeat to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, Sean Dyche said about Calvert-Lewin, “I don’t think he has a chance, but he’s building up well.

“He’s on the grass, he’s not with us yet, but that will come quickly. We’re hoping to get him as fit as possible to break this spell of ups and downs of injuries.”

After being linked with Arsenal last summer, Calvert-Lewin’s season has been peppered with injuries resulting in just 756 minutes of football for the 25-year-old, who has scored one goal in all competitions across 12 appearances this season.

He has played the full 90 minutes just three times this season (v Fulham, Southampton and West Ham).

The last time he took to the pitch for Everton was in their win over Arsenal. Calvert-Lewin played 62 minutes in that game and hasn’t played since.

Everton will also be without former Tottenham man, Andros Townsend, who has suffered a set-back in his recovery from a knee injury.

The Toffees will also be without Nathan Patterson (knee) and James Garner (unspecified), although Garner is rated as having a 50% chance of being fit for the game.
