Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal have now completed a deal to sign Jakub Kiwior from Spezia Calcio, putting pen to paper on contracts with the Serie A club over a fee in excess of €20m (£17.5m) with add-ons.

Kiwior has reportedly already agreed personal terms on a five-and-a-half-year deal, with a medical to be held in the next 48 hours.

Romano added that now the contracts have been signed, Kiwior will travel to London with his agent.

Polish outlet Meczyki initially broke the story of Arsenal’s imminent deal for the player, and they clarify that Kiwior will be signing a deal to 2028.

Meczyki report that Mikel Arteta has wanted the 22-year-old defender for a while, and there have been protracted negotiations over a move.

Yet the Gunners clearly did all that work behind the scenes, with the story only breaking on the same day Arsenal finalised a deal with Spezia.

Serie A clubs including Juventus, Napoli, and AC Milan were all linked with a move for the left-footed centre-back, but Kiwior is set to turn them all down for Arsenal – pending that medical.

Also comfortable playing at left-back or in midfield, Kiwior made his international debut last June. He’s gone on to start every game for his country since then – including four starts at the World Cup as Poland kept two clean sheets.

The 6’2″ defender was under contract with Spezia until 2025, having joined them in 2021, and he made 20 appearances for them in Serie A and the Italian cup competitions this season.
