Arsenal have spoken to Ivan Fresneda’s representatives over a transfer, though Real Valladolid are likely to want him back on loan.
The Evening Standard report that Arsenal are considering a move for Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda, and they’ve already spoken to his representatives over a potential transfer.
Fresneda would reportedly be viewed as a long-term signing for Arsenal, and the Standard write that Valladolid would likely want to keep him on loan for the rest of the season.
That shouldn’t be a major issue for Arsenal, as Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are both fit and available as options at right-back.
Cedric Soares is also an option for the time being, though he hasn’t been in the squad lately and he seems increasingly likely to join Fulham.
Arsenal aren’t the only club in for Fresneda, with Newcastle United also reportedly holding talks over the defender.
But Sacha Tavolieri reports that Newcastle’s current priority in the position is Malo Gusto of Lyon, leaving the Gunners as the favourites for Fresneda.
Once again, Tavolieri suggests the idea at Arsenal would be to bring Fresneda in over the summer, rather than immediately adding him to the squad in January.
Just 18 years old, Fresneda has made 11 appearances for Real Valladolid in La Liga and the Copa del Rey this season.
The teenager has a contract with his current club until 2025, but given that Valladolid are currently in a relegation battle and Arsenal are top of the Premier League, you could imagine he’d be keen to cut that deal short.
