Until recently, Arsenal have been named as the side most likely to sign Ivan Fresneda. That being said, Arsenal would prefer to sign him in the summer and, as a result, Newcastle sense a chance to pinch the player themselves.

The 18-year-old has an £8.8m release clause, making him an attractive option for Premier League sides and his reps have already been in London for talks.

Newcastle, however, are said to have held additional talks in a bid to sign the player ahead of Arsenal.

Fresneda came through the Real Madrid academy before moving to sign for Leganes in 2018 and then on to Valladolid in 2020.

He is currently valued at around €1m and is under contract until 2025.
