Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s 20-year-old defender, Piero Hincapie, although his club are reportedly not interested in signing.

Piero Hincapie played every minute of Ecuador’s World Cup campaign, catching the eye further of a number of clubs who have been watching him with interest since he arrived in the Bundesliga from Talleres de Cordoba in Argentina in the summer of 2021.

Costing just under £5.5m then and now valued at around £20m, Tottenham were recently informed that the Hincapie would cost no less than £30m.

A centreback who can play on the left or right, Hincapie can also play at left back and that’s just the type of defender Arsenal are looking for in the upcoming window.

That, however, means little.

Bayern Leverkusen are adamant he is not for sale and with not only Tottenham but AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli and Roma also being linked, it could be a transfer that is more trouble than it is worth.

Still, should Arsenal decide they do want to move for Hincapie, they certainly have the money to remove any Italian side as an issue.
