Fabrizio Romano reports for CaughtOffside that Arsenal will hold further talks with Bukayo Saka’s agents in the coming weeks and months, as well as with the representatives of William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli.

Romano writes that Arsenal’s plan is clear, and they want to extend all three contracts, though it will require some patience as “these things take time”.

Arsenal fans have already been pretty patient with this story, with reports since September that the club were trying to extend all three deals.

But there’s nothing else to do but wait at the moment, and it was always pretty unlikely anything would get done while they trio were at the World Cup.

There’s been some confusion over the exact contract lengths for Saka, Martinelli, and Saliba in the last few months, with differing reports on the end date of their current deals and potential options to extend.

The Athletic cleared things up by reporting that Martinelli has a deal lasting to 2024 with an option to extend to 2026, whilst Saka and Saliba have deals lasting to 2023 with options to extend to 2024.

Speaking about the trio’s contract situation before the World Cup, Mikel Arteta said: “Well, obviously we have to plan for the future and we are all working on it.

“Obviously Edu is on top of it and all the board. We will try to do things in the right way, being fair and trying to plan the best possible way and reward the players that, in our opinion, have a big future for the club.

“When we have something to announce, we will do that.”
