Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Martinelli’s contract lengths have all been clarified in a new update from The Athletic.

There’s been some confusion over the exact contract lengths of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Martinelli’s existing Arsenal deals in recent weeks.

At first, it was believed Saka and Saliba had deals lasting until 2024, and Martinelli had a contract until 2024 with an option to extend to 2025.

Then, a couple of reports suggested Saka and Saliba actually had options to extend to 2025, and Martinelli’s option lasted until 2026.

It seems the truth is somewhere in between. The Athletic report that Martinelli does indeed have a two-year extension option lasting until 2026, and Saka and Saliba do both have options to extend. However, those latter options only last until 2024.

It turns out Saka and Saliba are actually only under contract until next summer, 2023. So the options to extend take them to 2024, not 2025.

As a result, the pressure is clearly on the Saka and Saliba negotiations, given Arsenal have almost four years to sort out Martinelli’s deal.

Speaking about the trio’s contract situation earlier this month, Mikel Arteta said: “Well, obviously we have to plan for the future and we are all working on it.

“Obviously Edu is on top of it and all the board. We will try to do things in the right way, being fair and trying to plan the best possible way and reward the players that, in our opinion, have a big future for the club.

“When we have something to announce, we will do that.”
