After shaking off an injury scare the previous week, Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun made his 14th appearance and 12th start for Stade de Reims over the weekend, featuring in the lineup at home to FC Nantes.

The striker ended up having a big impact on the result in the key moments of the match, helping them to earn all three points.

First, Balogun was involved in a game-changing moment as he was fouled in the 54th minute. Racing away from defender Nicolas Pallois and into the penalty area, Balogun caused Pallois to panic and bring him down just outside the box.

Though he avoided the penalty, Pallois picked up a second yellow card for his attempt to stop the attack, leaving Nantes with 10 men.

With the scores still level at 0-0, Balogun searched for a winner, shooting marginally wide and heaving a header saved.

But with seven minutes left, the striker was gifted a golden opportunity after Mitchell van Bergen was brought down in the box. Balogun stepped up to the spot and converted for 1-0, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

With time running out, Balogun was involved in another huge chance, playing the ball to Junya Ito in the box, who found Kamory Doumbia eight yards out with only the goalkeeper to beat.

But Doumbia failed to find the finish, and Alexis Flips hit the side netting with a good chance on the rebound.

The game finished 1-0, with Balogun the match-winner. You can watch all the highlights here.

Balogun’s latest effort takes him to eight goals, one assist, and one penalty won converted by a teammate in his 14 appearances so far.

The striker is joint-fifth in the Ligue 1 top scorer standings, behind Neymar (11 goals), Kylian Mbappe (11), Jonathan David (nine), and Terem Moffi (nine).

Balogun sits level on eight goals with Martin Terrier and former Gunner Alexandre Lacazette, but he has the best minutes per goal of the three.
