Folarin Balogun is reportedly available to feature for Stade de Reims on Sunday after shaking off a training injury scare.

Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun has been a regular for Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims on his loan spell so far, but it looked like his run in the team might come under threat when he pulled out of training on Friday morning with physical discomfort.

Fortunately, Reims caretaker manager William Still said in his pre-match press conference that whilst Balogun did withdraw from training with an adductor issue, he should be available for Sunday’s game.

“The group will be the same as against Auxerre,” Still said on Friday. “Balogun left training early today, but he should be fine for Sunday.”

Reims are unlikely to drop Balogun if they have the option not to, considering he’s their top scorer this season. The striker has seven goals in his 12 appearances, and Junya Ito (four goals) is the only other player in the squad with more than one.

In fact, if you add up the goals scored by every other player in the Reims squad, it only comes to seven – the same total as Balogun alone.

Despite all of Balogun’s goals, Reims haven’t put together many results this season. Not helped by eight red cards in 12 games, they sit three points clear of the relegation zone.

Stade Brestois 29 are their opponents on Sunday, and they’re also the team three points behind in the relegation zone. Another goal for Balogun and a win for Reims would be huge for them.
