Arsenal youth goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo kept his third clean sheet in a row at the weekend, and he subsequently earned a spot in the official League Two Team of the Week for the latest round of matches.

Okonkwo put in a strong performance on Saturday, making seven saves and keeping out 1.01 expected goals on target, according to the statistics.

In doing so, Okonkwo helped Crewe to a 1-0 win over Swindon Town. He even caused a bit of controversy with a cheeky wave toward the Swindon end afterwards, much to the delight of his own supporters.

Okonkwo’s run of clean sheets began in Crewe’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Leyton Orient, and he followed that up with two more 1-0 wins against Colchester United and Swindon Town.

As a goalkeeper, the only thing more satisfying than a clean sheet must be a 1-0 win, knowing you were the one to make the difference between victory and a draw. Okonkwo is now getting used to that feeling.

Interim Crewe boss Lee Bell praised Okonkwo earlier this week, suggesting he’s really added something to their team.

“Arthur is a real learner,” Bell began. “That’s the biggest compliment I can give him, he’s willing to learn.

“He’s been willing to take himself out of his comfort zone by taking possibly the toughest loan he could have done, away from his family and friends.

“He’s been a real asset and long may that continue. Because he’s a learner, it means he will only get better.”
