Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes made it into the various Premier League Teams of the Week for their performances against Leeds United.

After a hard-fought and somewhat fortunate win for Arsenal away to Leeds United on Sunday, a couple of Mikel Arteta’s men made it into the Teams of the Week.

WhoScored included Gabriel Magalhaes (8.0) and Bukayo Saka (7.6) in their side, based on their statistical rating of the performances.

Gabriel won 100% of his aerial duels and eight of his nine duels overall, he completed 90% of his passes, made four clearances, four blocks, three tackles, and three interceptions in a busy defensive display.

Of course, this particular appearance may well be remembered for the red card that wasn’t. Gabriel was initially sent off for lifting his foot to Patrick Bamford’s midriff (I refuse to call it a “kick”), but it was overturned by VAR.

A red card and the concession of a penalty would surely have given Gabriel’s overall rating a big hit, but neither ended up counting.

As for Saka, the winger scored the winning goal in the match with an excellent finish, continuing his strong recent form.

The BBC’s Garth Crooks also included Saka in his Team of the Week, writing: “Four goals in the last three games for Saka. His goal against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League in midweek was impressive but his finish in the win over Leeds was outrageous.”

Arsenal have been involved in a lot of Teams of the Week this season so far. Other than the defeat to Manchester United, they’ve had at least one player in the various teams every matchday.

That run will come to an end in midweek, as the Gunners don’t have a match. Whilst the rest of the Premier League play a round of fixtures, Mikel Arteta’s side face PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League.
