Arsenal’s contract negotiations with Bukayo Saka are now relatively advanced, and it appears only a matter of when it is finalised.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal’s contract negotiations with Bukayo Saka are more advanced than those with Gabriel Martinelli or William Saliba.
Arsenal prioritised Saka’s contract over the summer and made good progress as a result. It’s now apparently a matter of when, rather than if, a contract is finalised.
That will be music to the ears of Arsenal fans, considering Saka’s form at the moment.
The 21-year-old has scored the winner in his last three matches consecutively, and he spent Monday night in Paris for the Kopa Trophy ceremony after being voted into the list of the top 10 young players in the world.
The winger has nine goal contributions in 13 appearances in all competitions this season, and he’s not showing any signs of slowing down ahead of the World Cup this winter.
Not to mention that Arsenal are top of the league with Saka as a guaranteed starter.
Back in August, Mikel Arteta said: “I’m very confident that we as a club, Bukayo and his family and his agent are very much aligned on what we want to achieve.
“I would like that to get done because I don’t want the player or anybody distracted in the middle of the season, but those things take time and have to go through the right process.”
In response, Saka told the media: “Yes, I share his confidence.”
In the month and a half since then, we’re yet to see a breakthrough, but it seems we’re edging ever closer to that moment.
